Le jour d'après / The day after [cancelled]
Satellite event of Salon de Montrouge
Beffroi de Montrouge — November 11-November 14, 2020
This festival that we propose is an event with a high symbolic value, a bearer of hope, turned towards a better future. It is driven by a dynamic of encouragement, able to restore confidence to emerging artists, reassure the people of Montrougi, the artistic and cultural community and with them our partners of always.
The forced postponement of the 2020 edition of the Salon de Montrouge, a real springboard for the creators of tomorrow, and the Municipality's stated desire to affirm the permanence and strength of the City's position in favor of contemporary art, have led to this event, which for five days, in the Belfry, the Media Library and in the streets of Montrouge, will bring together painting, sculpture, installations, several previously unseen, performances, films and videos. All these works have been created by former members of the Salon, now confirmed and renowned artists, who have mobilized and expressed their so-lidarity with the City that supported their ambitions and hopes at the very beginning of their careers.
The performances will punctuate the program by adapting to all audiences and will enliven the Belfry in a new way with intriguing and playful stories, dancing moments, moving and committed situations so that the public can see the artist at work in person.
A collective exhibition, bringing together artists, now established and renowned who all started their careers thanks to the Salon de Montrouge, will be presented in the Salle Ginoux of the Beffroi. Installations, sculptures, in situ works, paintings will be highlighted by a refined scenography. These participations add a strong symbolic value to this event by providing irrefutable proof that the Show, as a support and promotion platform for the emerging scene, has proven itself.
The four-day festival will be punctuated by performances and performative installations, which will take place in the heart of the Belfry.
A cinema space will be set up in the Blin room with a program of new videos. On the second floor of the Belfry, two rooms will be reserved for the projection of videos of artists revealed at the Salon de Montrouge.
The day after is prolonged outside the walls. An artistic stroll through the city of Montrouge during the festival, to be discovered on the urban display.
