Fremde Überall – Foreigners Everywhere
Works from the Pomeranz collection

        Jewish Museum, Vienne — May-October 2012
Tolerance Center, Moscou — September-November 2012
What has led Eduard and Jana Pomeranz (EPSTIFTUNG) to become collectors? What spirit of adventure has stitched to build a collection of international contemporary art in a short time? The exhibition Fremde Überall – Foreigners everywhere will show a body of work that turns out to be of exceptional quality and scale and wants to bring together an answer to these questions. The title is borrowed from a work of the collective duo Claire Fontaine and is intended as a form of replication which reminds us that art is above all a reference to otherness, an image of the other and the understanding of the society in terms of openness to the world. In this early 21st century in a city where art still applies that the zeitgeist is whenever the order of the day, the Jewish Museum Vienna & Moscow reopens in refurbished premises with a special event intended to connect the story of the present history as a link to a past that has vanished into the night and fog. It means the involvement of a major Jewish collector in the art scene in Vienna and Moscow.
